Main Street Pendleton was recognized as an Indiana Main Street community in December 2012. We are organized as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization operating as a supporting organization to the Historic Fall Creek, Pendleton Settlement. As an Indiana Main Street community, our mission is "to encourage revitalization and restoration in downtown Pendleton resulting in positive and sustainable change for the community." Indiana Main Street is a part of the larger national program that was started in 1977 by National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Pendleton already enjoys a rich heritage in historic preservation with its designation on the National Register of Historic Places in June of 1991. Significant investments have been made over the years to preserve and enhance the historic features of the town. While much has been done, much is left to do to strengthen the business community and restore the buildings in the downtown business district to their former grandeur.
